What is DocPay and how can it help me?

DocPay is a consulting service that provides physicians and APPs with leading MGMA benchmark and local market data to help you negotiate higher salaries with your employer. DocPay also offers a contract legal review by a physician contract specific attorney. A DocPay expert will also review the report with you and answer any questions so you are prepared to negotiate.

What can I expect to receive for my negotiations?

DocPay will prepare a customized compensation report for your specialty that includes MGMA industry leading benchmarks and local market data (if available). We then review your customized report with you at your convenience so you have a full understanding of the data. If you selected one of our Attorney Review services, you will have a separate letter emailed to you detailing all of the proposed contract edits and changes. See an example report here.

Is an attorney used to review my contract?

We do have an option to include an attorney to review the legal language in your contract. Our attorney has over 40 years of experience and will review all aspects of your contract and its language.  He will provide written feedback on where you should seek changes or clarification and will send you a letter with all proposed changes and edits. And you’re able to ask him additional follow up questions.

What is the turnaround time?

We will have your customized compensation report (and attorney review if selected) ready within 3 business days. You can then schedule a time at your convenience to review the information with our DocPay compensation experts and ask any follow up questions you may have.

Why should I work with a DocPay compensation expert and have my contract reviewed?

Physician compensation is complex. Most compensation models have various componets and each can significantly impact your overall compensation. It is important that physicians fully understand how they are being paid and what amount. It is also important to have a dedicated healthcare contract attorney review aspects such as: tail coverage, non-competes, and restrictive covenants.  

My employer said that all contracts are standard and cannot be changed, should I still have my contract reviewed?

Yes – almost all employers, health systems, or private practices will make changes to a contract. We see employers modify contracts in two main areas: compensation (to effectively recruit you) and "legal language" such as restrictive covenants, tail coverage, etc.
